About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Alight's global tax function, including tax accounting, income tax compliance, transfer pricing, tax risk management, and strategic tax initiatives
- Lead global income tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740
- Oversee quarterly and annual tax provisions, tax-related SEC disclosures, effective tax rate analysis, and supporting documentation
- Ensure accounting and reporting for uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, deferred tax assets and liabilities, and tax law changes
- Partner with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, and Internal Audit on financial statement reporting
- Maintain and enhance tax-related internal controls and SOX compliance processes
- Oversee preparation, review, and filing of U.S. federal, state, local, and international income tax returns
- Manage external service providers and monitor tax filing obligations
- Drive tax compliance process improvements, automation, and efficiencies
- Develop, implement, and govern global transfer pricing policies
- Oversee transfer pricing documentation and tax audit support
- Evaluate tax implications of business changes, transactions, restructurings, financing activities, and reorganizations
- Lead tax due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic transactions
- Manage tax audits and examinations and resolve tax controversies
- Identify, assess, and mitigate organizational tax risks
- Lead and develop the corporate tax team across global locations
- Build partnerships across Finance, Legal, Treasury, Human Resources, and business leadership
- Communicate complex tax matters to executive leadership, auditors, and external stakeholders
- Advise senior management on tax-related matters
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field required
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience
- Experience in public accounting, law firm, and/or multinational corporate tax environments
- Significant experience leading tax accounting and compliance functions within a large, complex organization
- Deep expertise in U.S. federal income taxation and ASC 740 tax accounting
- Proven experience with partnership taxation and partnership structures
- Experience overseeing global transfer pricing programs
- Experience managing external advisors, audits, and tax controversies
- Prior experience in a public company environment
- Experience with acquisitions, restructurings, and strategic business initiatives preferred
- CPA, JD, or Master's in Taxation strongly preferred
- Advanced tax certification or specialized tax education desirable
- Must have work authorization in the United States that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship
- Must successfully complete applicable background checks
- Ability to conduct virtual interviews on video; camera-on participation may be required
- Occasional travel to a physical office location may be required
