About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Recruit youth involved with DHS systems and inform them about DHS opportunities
  • Support youth participants in Asset Matching Program, Speakers Bureau, SITY, and other youth initiatives
  • Serve as liaison between youth, DHS staff, and provider staff
  • Maintain regular contact with youth through face-to-face, electronic, and social media communication
  • Maintain social media outlets and other communication channels for projects and engagement opportunities
  • Work with community partners offering services for youth
  • Collaborate with DHS colleagues, partners, and Youth Opportunities staff on programming and technical assistance
  • Coordinate special events, projects, and one-time youth opportunities
  • Coordinate scheduling, communication, documentation, and logistics for programs and trainings
  • Provide administrative support for Youth Opportunities programming
  • Coordinate financial education training and enrollment for the Asset Matching Program
  • Assist youth with required paperwork and financial matches
  • Teach financial literacy and wellness
  • Complete contact notes, collect and enter data, and provide monthly and yearly reports
  • Facilitate and plan Speakers Bureau and SITY meetings, track action items, and ensure follow-up
  • Attend meetings and co-facilitate programming and activities
  • Submit requests for youth transportation and meals
  • Maintain organized records, files, and reports
  • Perform additional duties as required by the employer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a human services field supporting youth/young adults with administrative duties
  • Act 33, 34 and FBI clearances
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and database management
  • Ability to work well in teams and lead
  • Ability to navigate social media
  • Experience working with youth in a positive and respectful manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions
  • Skilled at public speaking
  • Prior experience with the foster care system and/or other human services systems
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in a culturally competent manner
  • Demonstrated experience working with and fostering teams, including youth and young adults
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of supporting young people in creating personal goals and transition plans
