About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and oversee utility construction contract activities
- Supervise and develop a team of contract specialists
- Set expectations, manage workload, coach performance, and escalate complex contract and contractor issues
- Oversee contractor performance and compliance through field audits and reviews
- Drive corrective actions related to safety, quality, and billing accuracy
- Coordinate with operations and internal stakeholders on project planning, execution, and compliance tracking
- Manage contract risks and resolve discrepancies and performance concerns
- Drive process improvement and standardization in contract management
- Lead communication, implementation, and training for contracts
- Perform leadership duties including hiring, rewarding talent, setting goals, providing feedback, developing improvement plans, addressing conflict, and supporting employee development
- Engage in other duties supporting Alliant Energy’s values and purpose
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years experience in utility construction industry or related experience
- Bachelor’s Degree Business Administration, Engineering, or related field. Preferred
- Supervisory experience or equivalent preferred
- Experience in contract management
- Valid driver’s license
- Advanced knowledge of utility construction practices, work methods, and standards
- Knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and compliance requirements
- Ability to interpret utility maps, construction drawings, and specifications
- Proficiency in business systems and project management tools
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
- Successful completion of a background check
- Successful completion of a drug screen where applicable
- Visa sponsorship not supported
