About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead underwriting of new and renewal business across a portfolio of large, complex accounts, including globally dimensioned accounts
  • Drive profitable growth and meet revenue and profitability targets
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to brokers, clients, and risk managers
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with producers
  • Manage underwriting capacity and comply with governance frameworks, authorities, and guidelines
  • Evaluate and manage risk accumulation, including catastrophe modeling and scenario analysis where applicable
  • Support international insurance programs and coordinate with global colleagues
  • Ensure contract certainty at inception and accurate, timely policy documentation
  • Coach and develop less experienced underwriters
  • Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and respond to market trends
  • Collaborate with market management, claims, and operations
  • Support new business acquisition and retention through proactive market engagement
  • Represent Allianz Commercial professionally in the market

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of underwriting experience in Financial Lines or a related specialty
  • Strong track record of managing a profitable book of business
  • Solid understanding of line of business products, competitive landscape, and regional and local insurance markets, including global elements
  • Familiarity with the relevant legal and regulatory framework
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence and motivate others without formal authority
  • Comfortable with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and pricing/underwriting platforms
  • Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks and data-driven decision making
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in Economics, Finance, Insurance Management, or Business Administration
  • Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII or equivalent) is a plus
  • Fluent in English (native level)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment-based sponsorship
