Key responsibilities & impact
  • Investigate moderate/complex represented casualty claims, including single- or multi-car accidents and represented moderate or major claims
  • Handle complex and highly complex specialized claims such as business interruption, loss of income, and Errors and Omissions policies
  • Oversee liability and bodily injury investigations
  • Take recorded statements
  • Resolve loss of use claims
  • Make payments to appropriate parties
  • Negotiate and settle bodily injury issues or refer unresolved issues
  • Summarize documents and enter notes into the claim system
  • Manage, research, and resolve complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts, and issues
  • Review medical reports for claims settlement evaluation
  • Research, respond to, or participate in Department of Insurance complaints or investigations
  • Negotiate and settle claims according to business unit best practices
  • Set and update initial reserves, document rationale, and maintain claim summary notes
  • Determine coverage limits and claim value in complex claims involving single or multiple claimants
  • Document claim files with notes, evaluations, and decision-making processes
  • Mainly handle represented claims for NJ, NY, and PA

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Prior represented casualty claim handling experience is required
  • Claims experience preferred in at least one of the following states: NY, NJ, PA, FL, VA, NC
  • 2-5 years of moderate/complex Bodily Injury claim handling experience is required
  • Proficient communication skills, especially over the phone
  • Ability to work independently and remotely while managing time efficiently
  • Familiarity with insurance policies, coverage, and liability determination
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of innovative tools and platforms for effective claims evaluation
  • Home office with a dedicated, private workspace free from distractions
  • Minimum internet bandwidth of 50 MB down/5 MB up
  • Appropriate work surface and seating
  • Ability to work in the United States, excluding California, Alaska, Hawaii, and Washington
  • Successful background investigation
  • Adjuster and/or appraiser license may be required within 60 days of hire, if applicable
  • Allstate generally does not sponsor employment-based visas for this position
