About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define and socialize data analytics practices across Allstate
Provide strategic guidance on data ingestion, integration, data visualization, advanced analytics, and generative AI
Lead large-scale data lake implementation and data lakehouse modernization
Partner with senior leaders, engineers, architects, business partners, security, and engineering teams
Drive the evolution of a scalable and secure enterprise data platform
Engage strategic customers and incorporate future business needs into enterprise data strategy
Oversee deployment of strategic data products and data and analytics services
Build proofs of concept for cloud-native data microservices, IaaS, metadata-driven frameworks, and DevOps
Design and guide data models, data flows, and integration patterns for data lake, lakehouse, and consumption layers
Support delivery leaders and engineers with conceptual, logical, and physical architecture
Collaborate on and develop high-priority cloud-platform prototypes to demonstrate solution value and feasibility
Participate in all project phases and drive architecture initiatives
Communicate architecture initiatives to senior and executive leadership
Influence the evolution of cloud data, analytics, and AI platforms across Allstate

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
Rich experience building POCs with at least 1–2 successful enterprise adoptions
10–15 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines, such as data architecture, technical cloud architecture, analytics and data science, big data technologies, database management, or data governance and security
5+ years of hands-on experience implementing and performance-tuning MPP databases, such as Oracle Exadata, Teradata, Netezza, or Greenplum
Hands-on experience leading solution architecture at scale for cloud data platforms and major cloud providers, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Experience designing analytics environments for data visualization, model development tools, and AI-driven data agents
Hands-on experience with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI or Tableau
Experience analyzing data warehouses and cloud data warehouses such as Teradata, Netezza, Oracle, AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, or Snowflake
Experience designing database environments, analyzing production deployments, and optimizing performance
Hands-on experience architecting and building secure, scalable, flexible enterprise data projects using AWS, Microsoft Fabric, on-premises, and cloud-native platforms
Expertise building secure, scalable data ingestion and ETL/ELT solutions using server-based and serverless tools
Experience with data warehouse structures, dimensional modeling, and key definition using ERWIN or similar tools
Experience with data structures and models for microservices environments, data lakes, cloud lakehouses, and downstream applications
Hands-on experience leading large-scale enterprise data warehousing projects
Strong SQL skills
Product development mindset and CI/CD pipeline expertise
Experience with big data platforms, SQL, and NoSQL databases
Collaborative influence, intellectual humility, and enterprise-first decision-making
Experience prioritizing projects that mitigate trade-offs
Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
Experience driving architectural direction across multiple teams and organizations
Background investigation required
Must have a dedicated, private home workspace, appropriate desk and seating, and reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
