About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with the Claims/Special Investigation Unit to combat fraudulent claims in No-Fault and other cases
- Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud cases, including RICO and other affirmative actions
- Develop litigation strategies on legal matters
- Review case files and plan resolutions
- Draft discovery requests, motions, memorandums, and legal briefs
- Prepare for and conduct depositions and Examinations Under Oath
- Attend arbitrations, mediations, and trials
- Work with expert witnesses in preparing for or defending litigation
- Represent the company in conferences and hearings in State and Federal courts
- Draft pre-trial and post-trial motions
- Negotiate settlements and prepare related documentation
- Manage and oversee intermediate-level litigation matters
- No supervisory duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctorate
- Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
- Federal Court Admission or the ability to seek admission upon selection for this role
- 4 or more years of experience
- Ability to manage and oversee intermediate-level litigation matters
- Legal research and writing skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and related computer applications
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Ethics and integrity
- Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processes
- Collaborative team-player mindset
- Background investigation required
- Dedicated, private home workspace free from distractions
- Appropriate desk and seating for working from home
- Reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
- Generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position
