About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a trusted privacy advisor to Arity, Allstate's mobility and technology subsidiary
- Provide strategic counsel on U.S. state privacy laws, GDPR, global privacy frameworks, data governance, emerging technology, and regulatory compliance
- Conduct complex legal analysis regarding laws, regulations, exemptions, and compliance requirements
- Partner with privacy program leads on existing and emerging privacy, data governance, and AI regulations
- Advise advertising, marketing, and product teams across audience creation, activation, measurement, attribution, tags, pixels, SDKs, consent management, and consumer choice mechanisms
- Advise on Fair Credit Reporting Act matters involving consumer report data
- Lead privacy support for data licensing, data supply, clean room, strategic partnership, and other data-driven transactions
- Counsel stakeholders on data strategy, governance, provenance, permitted use rights, disclosures, sharing, licensing, retention, and lifecycle management
- Collaborate across legal, product, technology, marketing, data, compliance, and business teams
- Anticipate legal and regulatory developments, identify risks, and develop solution-oriented approaches
- Conduct risk-benefit analyses and provide actionable recommendations
- Advise business partners on emerging legal, regulatory, technology, and risk management issues
- Execute legal strategy, drive action plans, and foster communication and alignment across business units and legal stakeholders
- Travel as needed to support business objectives and team collaboration
- No supervisory duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree required
- Active license to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive legal experience within a law firm and/or in-house legal department supporting a mid-sized to large organization
- Demonstrated expertise in privacy, advertising technology (AdTech), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), technology transactions, commercial contracting, data governance, and/or other highly regulated industries
- Experience advising within corporate structures, including parent companies and affiliated entities
- Proven ability to provide strategic legal counsel balancing risk management with business objectives
- Leadership experience building, developing, mentoring, and guiding high-performing teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Business acumen to assess legal and operational risks, develop business cases, and quantify return on investment
- Effective budget management and resource planning experience
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion with sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other technology tools relevant to the practice of law and business operations
- Background investigation required
- Dedicated, private workspace free from distractions when working from home
