About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Travel to customers' homes to conduct on-site property inspections

  • Focus expertise on water losses

  • Independently investigate property claims and interpret policies to determine coverage
  • Communicate with customers by phone, email, and video chat
  • Offer customers communication preferences and provide claim progress updates
  • Evaluate and negotiate claim settlements with customers, vendors, third-party carriers, and claimants
  • Apply legal and business-standard methodologies to challenging and complex negotiations
  • Use estimate tools, job aids, and settlement platforms to resolve claims
  • Document claim work accurately and timely in the claims system
  • Protect the company financially by executing policies according to policy agreements
  • Complete initial and ongoing training

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Residency within Northern Virginia area or the state of West Virginia is mandatory
  • 2 years' previous experience as an outside adjuster is highly desired
  • Previous experience as an outside adjuster is highly desired
  • Proficiency in using Xactimate and other relevant software for estimating
  • Strong critical thinking and technical skills to assess damages accurately and expedite claims settlements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to customers' homes and handle virtual claims countrywide
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Willingness and ability to carry a 50-pound ladder and access up to a 6/12 pitch on a one to two-story roof
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel
  • Approximately 2 weeks of training in Dallas, Texas is required
  • Must secure adjuster and/or appraiser license(s) within 60 days of hire if required by the office/area
  • This position is not available for California, Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico residents
  • Must submit to a background investigation
  • Must have a dedicated, private home workspace free from distractions with appropriate desk and seating
  • Reliable internet with minimum speeds of 50 MB download and 5 MB upload
  • Allstate generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position
