About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Implement applications following 12-factor principles and build product enhancements
  • Own the full stack of software products, including web or mobile frontends and backend services
  • Use test-driven development and continuous integration to ensure product agility and quality
  • Contribute to product architecture and design decisions
  • Practice daily paired programming and test-driven development
  • Execute product strategy with customer needs in mind
  • Serve as an expert in a business domain and provide leadership for at least one technology stack
  • Coach junior team members on technologies and XP practices
  • Establish continuous integration, delivery, and deployment pipelines
  • Support software products in user environments
  • Lead and participate in daily site, cross-site, and product team standups
  • Participate in retrospectives and derive actionable improvements
  • Participate in iteration planning and clarify backlog stories and chores

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, system integration, and delivery, including automation of the software development lifecycle through CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • 6+ years of experience developing scalable RESTful APIs and implementing event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and asynchronous messaging patterns
  • Hands-on experience architecting, designing, developing, and delivering large-scale distributed cloud-native applications
  • Experience with microservices-based architectures and 12-Factor App principles
  • Experience with multiple programming languages; preferably Java (Spring Boot) and Python
  • Extensive experience designing and developing REST APIs, including Swagger/OpenAPI, API versioning, testing, monitoring, and lifecycle management
  • Experience with Apache Kafka and related ecosystem components
  • Experience in Agile and eXtreme Programming (XP) environments, including pair programming, continuous integration, and iterative delivery
  • Strong experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing using JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, or similar technologies
  • Proficiency in modern software engineering practices, including code quality, automated testing, security, observability, and cloud-native development
  • Four-year bachelor's degree preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirements
