About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work on post-trade systems for Alpaca’s clearing operations
Build integrations supporting self-clearing in US equities and options
Develop infrastructure enabling new financial products and revenue opportunities
Work on securities finance functions, including fully paid securities lending
Own projects from ideation through deployment
Design and build new systems and refine existing systems
Collaborate with other teams and influence technical and operational decisions
Participate in the on-call rotation to maintain system reliability

Requirements

What you’ll need

Deep interest in how traditional financial markets work
Ability to lead projects independently from definition through completion
Responsibility for personal and team outcomes
Experience working at startups
Foundational knowledge of computers, the internet, databases, and distributed systems
Productivity with Go, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes
5+ years of hands-on experience building reliable and distributed systems
Ability to design good RESTful APIs and identify bad ones
Nice to have: experience in securities clearing and settlement or securities finance
Nice to have: experience with gRPC, Protobuf, Temporal, Grafana, Kafka/Redpanda, Helm, and Docker
