About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure timely and accurate income statement recognition in accordance with US GAAP
- Own key areas of the monthly COGS close, including cost allocations and related accruals
- Prepare monthly accruals and reversals for content, technology, and other vendor costs
- Maintain COGS summary analysis for manager review
- Prepare intercompany entries and reclasses across multiple entities
- Reconcile accrued expense and payable accounts, and prepare flux explanations for the monthly close review
- Prepare journal entries in conformity with established procedures
- Prepare and review analysis of various balance sheet and P&L accounts
- Prepare month-end journal entries and support the monthly close process for entities under the AlphaSense umbrella
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure monthly transactions are properly booked
- Assess internal control effectiveness and design processes and controls for emerging business activities
- Identify and implement process improvement and automation opportunities, including AI-enabled workflows
- Lead delivery of accounting tasks and projects
- Assist with quarterly, annual, statutory, and sales tax audit requests
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably at a SaaS or technology company
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- Experience with a Big 4 or public accounting firm preferred
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple deadlines during a fast-paced month end close process
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to partner with FP&A and other stakeholders
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Working knowledge of US GAAP, including accrual accounting, multi-entity, and intercompany accounting
- Exposure to usage-based or technology vendor costs a plus
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite and FloQast or similar ERP and close management tool preferred
