About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and execute the territory sales plan, including account-level targets, customer relationships, revenue delivery, and market share growth
  • Deliver against KPIs for territory growth, focus brand distribution, and program execution
  • Analyze local market conditions, competitive activity, and account performance, and adjust the plan
  • Provide regular reporting on territory performance, call activity, and market conditions
  • Prospect for new accounts, points of distribution, and dormant accounts
  • Identify, research, and secure new customers through market analysis, industry resources, and direct prospecting
  • Grow existing accounts by increasing share of business
  • Solicit orders across the product portfolio and maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Present and introduce new brands, sizes, and packaging in line with company strategy
  • Quote prices and credit terms to direct-buying customers
  • Build relationships with owners, buyers, and retail contacts throughout the territory
  • Execute merchandising and brand standards at retail
  • Plan and execute retailer and consumer events
  • Organize, attend, and support partnership and sampling events
  • Build call itineraries and maintain a consistent call cycle
  • Plan efficient travel routes to maximize selling time
  • Maintain records of call activity, orders, and account information in company systems
  • Manage the territory budget and expenses within policy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Three or more years of field sales or account management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage KPIs and a territory budget to deliver profitable growth
  • Strategic portfolio selling skills across a broad product range
  • Disciplined merchandising and brand standards execution at retail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong work ethic, flexibility, and a solution-oriented approach
  • Familiarity with CRM or order-entry systems
  • Willingness to be in-market daily and to travel overnight approximately 50% of the time
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must reside within the assigned territory or be willing to relocate to it
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Preferred: Experience in premium cigars, tobacco, beverage alcohol, or other luxury/specialty retail categories
  • Preferred: Experience selling through both independent retail and wholesale distributor channels
  • Ability to work in retail or other tobacco environments with smoke
  • Occasional exposure to humid conditions in retail humidors
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 35 pounds
