About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide operational and programmatic leadership for training, technical assistance, and capacity-building programming
- Provide technical assistance on program and grant administration, including finance, vouchering, logic models, and hiring practices related to government grants
- Recruit, hire, supervise, train, and support assigned team members, including monitoring and evaluation
- Collaborate with the Chief of Staff to develop training department goals
- Manage and oversee day-to-day operations
- Oversee training cohorts, including recruitment of participating organizations, cohort coordination, and backup facilitation
- Manage relationships with organizations and entities
- Ensure staff training for external trainings and capacity-building services
- Track data and performance metrics accurately
- Oversee training and curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation
- Oversee technical assistance services and serve as the primary point person for in-person and virtual services
- Lead organizational capacity-building efforts through needs assessments, analysis, professional development plans, and plan completion
- Oversee grant reporting and collaborate with the data team on compliance and accurate reporting
- Monitor grant spending with the finance team to ensure contract spend-down
- Support fee-for-service training inquiries and logistics
- Travel locally, statewide, or nationally to provide training or technical assistance
- Represent Alternatives at relevant forums and events
- Support grant writing and fundraising efforts
- Complete annual goals and other duties assigned by the Chief of Staff
- Participate in staff/team meetings, professional development, and supervision meetings
- Serve as a member of the leadership team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of BA / BS degree or equivalent experience
- Two years supervisory experience, preferably in a community-based organization
- Demonstrated success evaluating services and successfully operationalizing innovative programs
- Ability to efficiently and strategically build organizational capacity within the constraints of limited resources
- Proficient in using technology as management reporting tool
- Strong project management skills working with multifaceted and complex programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in team management, empowering them to elevate their levels of responsibility and professional development
- Meticulous attention to detail and meeting deadlines
- Consistently learning and working within the following frameworks: Anti-oppression, Positive Youth Development, Trauma-informed and Balanced and Restorative Justice
- Skilled at working with young people at high risk for juvenile justice and child welfare system involvement
- Experience in public speaking and/or training with both youth and adult audiences
- Willingness and ability to travel locally, statewide or nationally
- Demonstrated administrative skills, including proficiency in MS Office software
- Interest in and commitment to working with schools and community based organizations
- Must successfully complete the Alternatives Internal Leadership Pipeline Program within two attempts as a condition of continued employment
