About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and implement enterprise-wide data architecture strategies for commercial, digital, customer, and operational functions
- Design scalable, resilient, and secure data platforms for analytics, reporting, machine learning, and operational decision-making
- Lead modernization of legacy data environments toward cloud-native Lakehouse architectures
- Establish data engineering standards, architectural principles, governance frameworks, and best practices
- Design enterprise data architectures supporting airline commercial and digital functions, reservations, passenger service systems, revenue management, loyalty, CRM, CDP, digital engagement, customer analytics, and regulatory reporting
- Architect scalable data ingestion, transformation, and serving layers for batch and real-time processing
- Design reusable, metadata-driven ETL/ELT frameworks
- Establish enterprise integration patterns using APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging technologies, and hybrid connectivity
- Implement data quality controls, reconciliation, lineage tracking, metadata management, and observability
- Automate deployment, orchestration, monitoring, recovery, and operational support processes
- Design streaming architectures for near real-time operational visibility and business insights
- Enable event-driven processing for customer engagement, disruption management, operational monitoring, and decision support
- Establish Master Data Management strategies and governance frameworks
- Govern master data domains including customers, flights, airports, aircraft, crew, and enterprise reference data
- Drive data stewardship, golden record management, metadata governance, and data quality initiatives
- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements
- Provide technical leadership across data engineering and architecture teams
- Mentor engineers, architects, and technical leads
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, enterprise architects, airline operations teams, and executive leadership
- Lead strategic modernization, cloud transformation, and enterprise data platform initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, Data Platform Engineering, or Enterprise Data Management roles
- Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale data platforms within complex and highly integrated environments, preferably in the airline, aviation, travel, or transportation industry
- Extensive expertise in modern cloud-based data architectures using Microsoft Azure and Databricks Lakehouse technologies
- Strong hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Scala, Spark SQL, Delta Lake, and modern orchestration frameworks for batch and real-time workloads
- Experience with Informatica data integration
- Experience developing enterprise-grade ETL/ELT frameworks, high-performance data pipelines, and large-scale data processing platforms
- Deep understanding of API-based integrations, event-driven architectures, messaging technologies, and hybrid integration models
- Significant experience in enterprise data warehousing, analytical data modeling, database design, SQL optimization, performance tuning, and large-scale data management
- Practical experience establishing Master Data Management (MDM), metadata management, data stewardship, golden record management, and enterprise data governance
- Deep understanding of data quality, lineage, observability, security, privacy, compliance, and governance requirements
- Ability to define architecture standards, lead engineering teams, mentor technical professionals, and drive enterprise-wide modernization and cloud transformation initiatives
- Preferred: experience with Passenger Service Systems, Revenue Management, Loyalty Platforms, CRM, CDP, Digital Commerce, and Customer Experience solutions
- Preferred: experience supporting advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and personalization initiatives
- Preferred: exposure to Data Mesh, Data Fabric, or domain-oriented data architecture
- Preferred: experience within large-scale enterprise transformation programs
- Preferred: relevant certifications in Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Data Engineering, Cloud Architecture, or Enterprise Data Management
