About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the American Cancer Society's Discovery pillar through application and data installations
  • Maintain server environments and assist the IAM team with permissions for research teams
  • Install, configure, update, and provide ongoing technical support for research-specific applications and datasets
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT product, endpoint, data, architecture, infrastructure, and application support teams
  • Provide advanced technical support for SaaS platforms and analytics tools, including SAS, R/RStudio, and government analytical platforms and databases
  • Resolve platform, user access, login, and data issues and coordinate with vendors and internal teams
  • Maintain and troubleshoot scalable data pipelines supporting analytics, modeling, and reporting
  • Advise stakeholders on technology usage and future investment considerations
  • Monitor server availability and address downtime or disruptions
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery solutions
  • Create technical documentation covering data models, pipelines, server environments, and transformation workflows
  • Support software development lifecycle best practices
  • Troubleshoot large data models and optimize statistical and analytical workloads
  • Diagnose data pipeline and transformation errors and improve model scalability
  • Ensure reliable access to trusted data for analytics and business users

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years of experience supporting, monitoring, and troubleshooting data pipelines, including ETL, cloud storage, reporting, and deployment
  • Experience with SAS and/or R/RStudio highly preferred
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Proficiency in cloud-based data engineering, preferably Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks
  • Familiarity with AWS and GCP is a plus
  • Strong experience with R/RStudio, SAS, SQL, and Python
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and version control, such as Git and GitHub/GitLab
  • Understanding of data quality, privacy, governance, and documentation best practices
  • Experience or familiarity with healthcare or research data preferred
  • Excellent business relationship and communication skills
  • Ability to work after hours, weekends, and holidays as needed; be on call and/or fulfill job responsibilities
  • Occasional travel of 10–15% may be required
  • Ability to work onsite for the first day for onboarding activities
