About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead implementation of individual giving strategies across the region
  • Recruit, coach, and manage Market Leaders overseeing frontline fundraising teams and market revenue
  • Lead, coach, and manage a geographically dispersed national organization of specialized relationship fundraisers
  • Drive the shift from a generalist coverage model to a focused, donor-centric relationship model
  • Ensure portfolio management and donor strategy execution across markets
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of UHNW and HNW individuals
  • Represent the American Cancer Society to critical individual investors
  • Lead cross-functional alignment across development, mission, marketing, communications, and operations
  • Guide volunteer and governance engagement through CEOs Against Cancer chapters, Area Boards, and other structures
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for revenue, pipeline development, and donor engagement
  • Drive accountability and continuous improvement across teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum of 10-12+ years of fundraising experience
  • 8-10 years in a management role
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving fundraising results across diverse communities
  • Strong knowledge of regional mission delivery and income development strategies
  • Expertise in principal gift strategy, portfolio management, and high-capacity donor engagement
  • Skilled communication and ability to influence diverse stakeholder groups
  • Ability to drive alignment and collaboration across cross-functional teams
  • Skill in building high-performing, inclusive, and accountable team cultures
  • Relationship building, negotiation, and securing mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Exceptional relationship management and influencing skills with donors, volunteers, and executive stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and performance management capabilities
  • Frequent travel, including evening and weekend work required
