About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide legal and contractual support for programs and operations
  • Collaborate with business leads across the College to define contractual needs and relationships
  • Draft complex and specialized service, collaboration, license, hotel, and meeting agreements
  • Maintain and update contractual templates, proposal templates, and libraries of contractual provisions
  • Guide business teams on contract structures and Statement of Work development
  • Assist with requests for proposals, complex solicitations, proposals, bids, and contract modifications
  • Assist with negotiation of contractual terms and conditions
  • Apply tax-exempt organization requirements to contracting and advise on tax treatment
  • Facilitate contract review, initiation, and sign-off processes
  • Support administration of executed contracts and monitor contractual compliance, payment schedules, deadlines, and applicable laws
  • Maintain contractual records
  • Evaluate technical innovations and monitor contract-management best practices
  • Advise on intellectual property rights and contract breaches
  • Develop cooperative relationships with internal and external customers
  • Identify and mitigate legal, regulatory, operational, and reputational risks
  • Support nonprofit, tax-exemption, charitable, grant, and funding compliance
  • Conduct legal research on contracts, nonprofit operations, governance, privacy, and regulatory compliance
  • Support implementation and maintenance of contract templates, playbooks, and approval processes
  • Support special projects and strategic initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Two years of experience in contract review, drafting, negotiation, or legal support roles
  • Strong understanding of contract law principles and risk management
  • Excellent legal writing, communication, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and operate in a self-directed manner
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Dedication to customer service and ability to positively represent the organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and contract management systems
  • Experience in tax-exempt organizations, data privacy and healthcare matters, and licensing arrangements strongly preferred
  • Admission to a state bar and eligibility to practice law preferred
  • Experience with a nonprofit organization, foundation, educational institution, or healthcare organization preferred
  • Knowledge of privacy, data protection, and intellectual property matters preferred
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management systems and workflow tools preferred
