About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain the annual risk assessment for the market’s legal entities
  • Develop a multi-year testing plan covering Credit, Operational, Compliance, and other Group risk pillars
  • Prioritise testing activity using risk-based methodologies
  • Align testing activity with enterprise risk assessments
  • Support planned second-line control reviews and prepare testing reports
  • Communicate review outcomes to senior management and relevant governance committees
  • Define and oversee a remediation monitoring program for issues identified during control reviews
  • Oversee implementation of corrective actions
  • Enhance tools, metrics, and reporting mechanisms for identifying and managing emerging and existing risks
  • Develop second-line testing methodologies, policies, standards, procedures, testing governance, and quality standards
  • Coordinate assurance activities across first, second, and third lines of defence
  • Develop integrated assurance frameworks and assurance maps
  • Coordinate with enterprise testing and assurance teams
  • Develop testing reporting frameworks, report findings, track remediation, and identify thematic risks and control weaknesses

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Design and implementation of second-line testing programmes
  • Assurance and control testing methodologies
  • Integrated assurance frameworks
  • 3-5 years of experience in risk management or a similar role
  • Strong business acumen with a risk-reward control perspective
  • Experience interacting with regulators and familiarity with the UK’s regulatory landscape and requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple priorities under pressure
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Excellent relationship and influencing skills
  • Ability to build productive relationships across teams and levels of seniority
  • Strong sense of integrity and ability and willingness to challenge and be challenged
  • Ability to identify issues, deliver and escalate key findings, and advise on recommended solutions
  • Ability to communicate oversight findings to colleagues, business partners, and senior leaders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the UK; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
