About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Assist in specific areas of operational risk management execution plans within the business unit, including BU-specific guidelines and project plans
Track issues with KRI limits and risk appetite for CFR to ensure operational risks remain within agreed thresholds
Support implementation of parts of the operational risk framework to enable effective risk management and decision-making in the business unit
Assist in developing BU-specific procedures and additional standards, including escalation protocols
Facilitate understanding and use of risk governance framework basics across business units through regular communication
Aggregate basic-level reporting, approvals/exceptions, and support “change-the-function” activities for the business unit
Provide administrative support for training initiatives and career progression plans aligned with Operational Risk Management
Monitor integration of regulatory changes and updates into the Operational Risk framework and training materials
Share insights, better practices, and themes across the enterprise

Requirements

What you’ll need

1-2 Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function)
Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities
Project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; American Express will not pursue visa sponsorship
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous (preferred)
