About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify, analyze, and quantify liquidity risk exposures
  • Implement liquidity risk management strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the organization's risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and leading practices
  • Use analytical frameworks for independent risk assessment and provide effective challenge on Liquidity Stress Testing, Funding Plan, Intraday Liquidity Management, Cash Flow Forecasting, and Asset-Liability Management
  • Calibrate and monitor limits and escalation thresholds to keep material market risks within risk tolerance
  • Perform independent reviews of key treasury risk management processes
  • Support the Manager, Treasury Risk with ongoing oversight, monitoring, and risk assessment activities
  • Manage the risk appetite framework, senior management communications, and committee/Board reporting for the market risk pillar
  • Monitor trends, market developments, and regulatory changes to identify emerging risks and mitigation or optimization opportunities
  • Foster risk culture and liquidity-risk awareness through training, communication, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
  • Work with senior management and business units to provide independent oversight and effective challenge of liquidity risk management across American Express and American Express National Bank

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • In-depth knowledge of risk management processes, metrics, analytics, systems, and regulatory guidelines
  • Prior experience in risk management or finance
  • Exposure to asset-liability management (ALM), liquidity risk management, and stress testing
  • LCR/NSFR is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Rigorous analytical and problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven ability to translate complex and disparate information into comprehensive and cohesive messaging for senior leadership, committees, audit, and regulators
  • Proactive in identifying issues, escalating key findings, and advising on recommended solutions to mitigate risks in a timely fashion
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Graduate degree in Finance, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Econometrics, Business Administration, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related field
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, and Bloomberg
  • CFA or FRM designation is a plus
  • Successful completion of a background verification check
