About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as Auditor in Charge on low-risk audits and manage engagements end-to-end
- Plan audit projects, define objectives and scope, and coordinate with control groups, external auditors, stakeholders, and regulators
- Conduct L1 reviews and serve as the primary audit client contact
- Analyze audit results and documentation and synthesize audit findings
- Lead audit client meetings and walkthroughs
- Develop test steps, audit findings, and audit reports according to IAG policies and procedures
- Guide validation and execution of corrective actions and Management Action Plans
- Support business monitoring by tracking key metrics and identifying control issues and trends
- Monitor industry trends, external news, and regulatory changes and assess their business impact
- Delegate tasks and guide auditors in risk assessment, control design evaluation, and audit testing
- Review work papers and provide feedback
- Coach, teach, mentor, and develop less experienced colleagues and co-sourced resources
- Conduct post-audit feedback discussions
- Guide proactive communication of task status, roadblocks, challenges, and potential solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of audit experience
- Prior experience working at a Big Four / G-SIB
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
- Project management skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving using data analysis, process, risk control knowledge, and experience
- Knowledge of control theory and professional auditing practices
- Understanding of regulations, regulatory risks, accounting, and financial industry best practices
- Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
- Preferred: experience with data analytic tools, data visualization, KRIs, KPIs, information systems/technology, and scorecards/dashboards
- Preferred: experience with data analytics tools and data visualization
- Preferred: relevant professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CISA
- Preferred: knowledge of U.S. consumer business and risk management processes
