About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support Internal Audit Group assurance coverage for Third-Party Risk Management
  • Serve as Auditor in Charge on audits, managing engagements end-to-end
  • Plan audit projects and define objectives and scope
  • Coordinate with control groups, external auditors, stakeholders, and regulators
  • Conduct L1 reviews and serve as the primary audit client contact
  • Analyze audit results and documentation, evaluate effectiveness and efficiency, and synthesize audit findings
  • Lead audit client meetings and walkthroughs
  • Develop test steps, audit findings, and audit reports according to IAG policies and procedures
  • Guide validation and execution of corrective actions and Management Action Plans
  • Track key metrics to identify control issues and trends and assess the impact of industry and regulatory changes
  • Delegate tasks, guide auditors, assess risks, evaluate control design, execute audit tests, and review work papers
  • Coach, teach, mentor, and develop less experienced colleagues and co-sourced resources
  • Conduct post-audit feedback discussions and provide actionable development feedback
  • Guide proactive communication of task status, roadblocks, challenges, and potential solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of audit experience
  • Prior experience working at a Big Four / G-SIB
  • Understanding of third-party risk management frameworks, including governance, due diligence, ongoing monitoring, lifecycle management, issue management, and reporting
  • Understanding of risks associated with third-party relationships across the vendor lifecycle, including operational resilience, information security, technology, data management, financial crime, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
  • Critical thinking and ability to use data analysis, process knowledge, risk control knowledge, and experience to drive risk-based conclusions and decisions
  • Knowledge of control theory and professional auditing practices throughout the audit lifecycle
  • Understanding of regulations, regulatory risks, accounting, and financial industry best practices, including emerging technology and data considerations
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S.; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
