  • Lead the full acquisition process within the territory, targeting high-value middle-market clients through strategic, consultative selling
  • Build and sustain executive-level relationships with CEOs, CFOs, and financial leaders
  • Position American Express as a partner of choice for client growth and efficiency
  • Leverage market intelligence, professional network, and industry insight to identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities
  • Maintain a strong in-market presence with 25–50% travel for personal client engagement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Track record of conceiving, structuring, selling in, and implementing creative, innovative deals
  • Ensures proper business process, conduct and compliance controls and adherence
  • Demonstrated ability to form relationships and drive consensus with key internal stakeholders, including pricing, legal, Card issuers, Risk, and other internal partners
  • Strong financial acumen and excellent financial and analytical skills used to prepare and present quantitative analyses to prospects
  • Strong primary and secondary account/industry research skills; ability to leverage professional networks and third-party sources to develop understanding of prospect needs, objections, and leverage points
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong executive presence
  • Strong negotiation skills; ability to build rapport and earn credibility with prospects
  • Flexible and comfortable in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and changes in direction
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of successful outside sales experience
  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com an asset
  • Must reside in the designated territory, within a reasonable commuting distance of Minneapolis/Saint Paul, MN
  • Valid driver's license required; motor vehicle records check and disclosure of moving violations within the last 3 years required
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. required; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
