About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead end-to-end Small Business marketing strategy and go-to-market initiatives from proposition development through launch, optimization, and ongoing engagement
  • Define value propositions, positioning, messaging, audiences, channel approaches, and integrated customer experiences
  • Transform go-to-market from episodic launches to iterative, always-on solutions
  • Use customer research, behavioral and performance data, competitive intelligence, and market trends to identify opportunities
  • Inform product positioning, messaging, creative strategy, and GTM decisions
  • Mobilize and align partners across Marketing, Small Business Product, Communications, and other key functions
  • Translate product features and partner benefits into differentiated customer messaging across acquisition and existing customer experiences
  • Create integrated GTM roadmaps with strategies, milestones, decision points, dependencies, and measurement frameworks
  • Define success metrics and assess GTM effectiveness using performance insights
  • Identify optimization opportunities and inform future product and marketing strategies
  • Develop narratives communicating strategic choices, recommendations, progress, risks, and business impact to senior leaders

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience developing marketing strategy and go-to-market plans for products, propositions, benefits, or other complex customer offerings, ideally within financial services, payments, B2B, or Small Business
  • Strong strategic marketing ability connecting customer needs, product capabilities, competitive dynamics, and business objectives into differentiated value propositions and actionable GTM strategies
  • Demonstrated success transforming go-to-market models from one-time launches to ongoing customer solutions
  • Strong customer-first orientation and ability to translate product features and partnership benefits into compelling customer messaging
  • Ability to synthesize customer research, competitive intelligence, performance data, and business inputs into insights and recommendations
  • Ability to lead through influence and mobilize complex cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication and storytelling skills
  • Ability to influence senior leaders and drive alignment around strategic recommendations
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Hands-on, proactive, and highly accountable
  • Strong collaboration, influencing, and negotiation skills
  • People leadership experience, including coaching, motivating, and developing talent
  • 8–10 years of business and marketing experience preferred
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
  • Bachelor's Degree
