Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the market
  • Lead the full acquisition process within the assigned territory through strategic, consultative selling
  • Target high-value middle-market clients through the acquisition process
  • Build and sustain executive-level relationships with CEOs, CFOs, and financial leaders
  • Position American Express as a partner of choice for client growth and efficiency
  • Leverage market intelligence, professional networks, and industry insight to identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities
  • Maintain a strong in-market presence with 25–50% travel
  • Conduct in-person client meetings, prospecting activities, and relationship management throughout the territory
  • Partner with Global Commercial Services and Regional Centralized Client Management teams to expand B2B coverage, drive charge volume, and increase Welcomed Acceptance
  • Devise and implement innovative deal constructs for previously untapped opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Track record of conceiving, structuring, selling in, and implementing creative, innovative deals
  • Ensures proper business process, conduct and compliance controls and adherence
  • Demonstrated ability to form relationships and drive consensus with key internal stakeholders, including pricing, legal, Card issuers, Risk, and other internal partners
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills used to prepare and present quantitative analyses to prospects
  • Strong primary and secondary account/industry research skills
  • Ability to leverage professional networks and third-party sources to understand prospect needs, anticipated objections, and potential leverage points
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong executive presence
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and earn credibility with prospects
  • Flexible and comfortable in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and changes in direction
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of successful outside sales experience
  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com is an asset
  • Must reside in the designated territory
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Disclosure of all moving violations within the last 3 years required during the application process
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.; American Express will not pursue visa sponsorship
