About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the market
- Lead the full acquisition process within the territory through strategic, consultative selling
- Target high-value middle-market clients and prospects with annual sales revenue up to $10B in B2B verticals that do not currently accept American Express Cards
- Build and sustain executive-level relationships with CEOs, CFOs, and financial leaders
- Position American Express as a partner for client growth and efficiency
- Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities using market intelligence, professional networks, and industry insight
- Devise and implement innovative deal constructs with prospects and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with Global Commercial Services and Regional Centralized Client Management teams to expand B2B coverage, drive charge volume, and improve Welcomed Acceptance
- Maintain an in-market presence with 25–50% travel for in-person client meetings, prospecting, and relationship management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Track record of conceiving, structuring, selling in, and implementing creative, innovative deals
- Ensures proper business process, conduct and compliance controls and adherence
- Ability to form relationships and drive consensus with key internal stakeholders, including pricing, legal, Card issuers, Risk, and other internal partners
- Strong financial acumen and excellent financial and analytical skills
- Strong primary and secondary account/industry research skills
- Ability to leverage professional networks and third-party sources to understand prospect needs, objections, and leverage points
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong executive presence
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to build rapport and credibility with prospects
- Flexibility in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of successful outside sales experience
- Proficiency with Salesforce.com is an asset
- Must reside in the designated territory
- Valid driver's license required
- Disclosure of all moving violations within the last 3 years required during the application process
- Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. required; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
