About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Conduct fair lending statistical testing in Python, including t-tests and linear and logistic regression models, across the end-to-end credit lifecycle
Collaborate with business partners to understand technical systems, business processes, data structures, and AI/ML modeling methodologies
Work with affiliate partners to obtain data, scope data appropriately, and execute quality control measures
Summarize statistical analysis results in writing
Present statistical analysis results to key partners and leaders in Compliance, the Bank, and Affiliate Management
Review new or revised business initiatives and provide fair lending guidance on credit risk rules, marketing rules, and model adjustments
Support ongoing Fair Lending team development and activities
Provide ad hoc support for regulatory examinations and internal audits
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field
Strong experience with Python environment and libraries, including manipulating large datasets and samples
Technical experience with analytic coding techniques, visualization tools, and creating reporting dashboards
Aptitude for working with data, interpreting results, business intelligence, and analytic best practices
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field (preferred)
Fair lending analytical experience (preferred, but not required)
Working knowledge of statistical/data mining analysis tools, relational databases, and programming languages within the Big Data environment
Experience with Tableau and Power BI; excellent MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
Ability to break down complex problems using data analysis, process knowledge, and risk/control knowledge
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to lead and manage multiple projects
