About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, retain, and profitably grow a portfolio of American Express’ largest and most strategic global enterprise Commercial Card and payment clients
  • Own client strategy, profitable growth, retention, relationship expansion, global account strategy, and sales pipeline
  • Develop and execute comprehensive global account plans with strategic priorities, growth objectives, measurable outcomes, and executive engagement plans
  • Build relationships with stakeholders from program-level contacts through senior executives and C-suite leaders
  • Identify and advance opportunities to increase share of wallet, generate net-new spend, and expand adoption of American Express products and solutions
  • Lead complex commercial and contract negotiations, including renewals, pricing proposals, RFP responses, and strategic client agreements
  • Provide strategic and consultative guidance to Finance, Procurement, Treasury, and other client stakeholders
  • Mobilize cross-functional teams and subject matter experts across American Express’ matrixed global organization
  • Partner with Client Management, Product, Operations and Servicing, Risk and Underwriting, Legal, Strategic Partnerships, and other teams
  • Navigate multinational client environments, regulatory considerations, risk and underwriting requirements, and operational needs
  • Serve as senior point of contact for complex client issues and escalations through resolution
  • Lead initiatives involving global systems and process integrations, regulatory requirements, underwriting and risk considerations, and cross-market dependencies
  • Monitor industry, competitive, and payments trends and translate insights into strategic recommendations and growth opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex global enterprise clients across multiple markets, business units, functions, and senior stakeholders
  • Proven strategic account management experience driving client growth, retention, relationship expansion, and measurable commercial outcomes
  • Demonstrated sales and pipeline ownership within existing enterprise accounts
  • Experience participating in or leading complex contract negotiations, renewals, pricing discussions, RFP responses, and commercial agreements
  • Ability to mobilize cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams in highly matrixed organizations without direct reporting authority
  • Ability to engage senior executives and C-suite stakeholders
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Strong consultative and solution-selling capabilities
  • Experience navigating complex client initiatives involving multiple markets, stakeholders, products, systems, and business functions
  • Exceptional executive communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage complex client issues and escalations
  • Ability to work independently in a virtual environment across geographies and time zones
  • Preferred: 8+ years of strategic account management, relationship management, consultative sales, or business development experience supporting large global enterprise clients
  • Preferred experience in Commercial Card, payments, B2B payments, transaction banking, treasury services, expense management, fintech, or complex enterprise financial services
  • Preferred knowledge of Commercial Card, T&E, supplier payments, B2B payment solutions, and/or Procure-to-Pay processes
  • Preferred experience with senior Finance, Procurement, Treasury, or corporate decision-makers
  • Preferred understanding of corporate finance, accounting, treasury, finance operations, expense management solutions, and ERP/accounting systems
  • Preferred experience with complex global contract management and negotiations
  • Preferred program and/or project management experience
  • Preferred knowledge of the competitive landscape within Commercial Card, payments, B2B payments, or Procure-to-Pay solutions
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S.; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
