About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide compliance and privacy advisory support by identifying applicable Laws, Rules and Regulations and requirements associated with business processes, programs, and controls
- Partner with Governance & Control and business partners to design and enhance controls
- Provide compliance guidance and recommend mitigation strategies
- Assess applicability of Laws, Rules, and Regulations and support LRR mapping within the RCSA program
- Advise on compliance impacts to business processes, controls, issues, and remediation activities
- Interpret CRA results and advise business partners on prioritizing actions to address compliance risks and gaps
- Advise on compliance considerations throughout issue, event, and remediation lifecycles
- Facilitate review of marketing and customer-facing materials for regulatory and enterprise compliance
- Partner with enterprise stakeholders to drive consistent and effective compliance risk management
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4+ years of experience in compliance, legal, privacy, or regulatory advisory within the financial services industry
- Experience in governance, risk management, or operational risk management within the financial services industry
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying regulatory requirements and advising business stakeholders on compliance risks, controls, and regulatory obligations
- Strong relationship management, influencing, and communication skills
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous or evolving environments, exercising sound judgment and delivering results with minimal oversight
- Bachelor's degree required
- Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
- Experience with RCSA, CRA, issues management, control frameworks, or regulatory change management preferred
- Professional certification such as CRCM, CCEP, CIPP/US, or similar certification preferred
- Advanced degree such as J.D. preferred
