About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support US Above-The-Line media investments across channels, with emphasis on Linear TV, Streaming, and Social channels.
  • Ensure buys align to approved strategy, audience priorities, budget, flighting, and performance goals.
  • Track commitments, pacing, delivery, guarantees, added value, makegoods, and optimization opportunities throughout the campaign lifecycle.
  • Evaluate new media opportunities and partner proposals for quality, efficiency, audience fit, reach/frequency, measurement readiness, and brand safety.
  • Maintain understanding of media marketplace channel currencies, pricing dynamics, buying cycles, partner capabilities, emerging formats, and marketplace innovation.
  • Partner with Media Analytics, Strategy & Planning, and agency teams to monitor performance, share investment learnings, and inform in-flight optimizations and future planning.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Direct experience managing, negotiating, and stewarding large-scale media buys and media investments required.
  • Live sports media buying or sponsorship-led media investment experience required, including familiarity with seasonality, rights-holder packages, and media partner offerings.
  • Experience working with media agencies required; agency background or hands-on buying experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of media investment fundamentals, including CPM, CPP/GRP/TRP, impressions, reach/frequency, audience guarantees, delivery pacing, and post-buy reporting.
  • Ability to track investment details, budgets, partner commitments, and campaign delivery with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
  • Strong partner management skills with proven ability to influence and negotiate across complex media plans.
  • Ability to distill complex marketplace, investment, and performance information into clear recommendations and structured communications.
  • Collaborative spirit and comfort working in a matrixed environment across Strategy & Planning, Analytics, Finance, Legal, Procurement, agency teams, and media partners.
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship.
