About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Identify and assess operational, regulatory, compliance, and customer experience risks throughout business processes and systems
  • Facilitate business units' execution of risk assessments, including RCSAs tied to New Product Development, Personal Loans, Line Management, Account Statement, and Card Member Legal Disclosures
  • Support control testing and quality assurance programs to ensure regulatory and internal standards are met
  • Support thematic risk reporting covering levels, trends, root causes, and emerging themes
  • Support business-unit identification of risks within New Product Governance and change management activities
  • Support issue management, corrective action tracking, remediation validation, and sustainable control enhancement
  • Support American Express Audit program management, business engagement, and accurate responses validating findings
  • Help ensure Management Action Plans have achievable and sustainable action plans
  • Maintain risk dashboards, key risk indicators, risk profiles, and risk registers for ongoing monitoring
  • Collaborate extensively with partners across multiple business units and functional areas

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience in operational risk management within Risk, Control Management, Compliance, and/or Internal Audit functions
  • Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities
  • Project management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate across business, technology, product, servicing, and governance teams
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, evaluate risk scenarios, and support risk-based decision making
  • Experience supporting risk assessments, control evaluations, monitoring, testing, and issue management across operational or customer-facing processes
  • Ability to build relationships, influence decisions, and partner with stakeholders
  • Open and growth mindset with nimble learning agility
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and projects concurrently
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field is preferred
  • Experience supporting lending products, pricing processes, digital payment capabilities, customer servicing operations, and/or regulated operational processes is preferred
  • Experience supporting or executing RCSAs, PRSAs, control evaluations, and operational risk assessments is preferred
