About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate as a key team member on audit projects, independently owning audit tasks
  • Document processes under review and develop workpapers
  • Execute process, governance, and oversight audit tests in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Assist Senior Managers and Managers throughout the audit lifecycle
  • Review prior audit results and business monitoring materials to support audit planning
  • Participate in walkthroughs using effective challenge and critical thinking
  • Document test results to evaluate control design and effectiveness
  • Identify and escalate issues and draft audit issue documentation
  • Develop understanding of American Express’ business model, products, services, and organizational units
  • Document and evaluate audit observations and findings
  • Support client status meetings, audit requests, and administrative tasks
  • Execute validation of corrective actions and Management Action Plans (MAPs)
  • Communicate task status, roadblocks, challenges, and potential solutions to leadership
  • Work proactively and take initiative on next steps
  • Provide guidance and feedback to staff auditors
  • Draft test steps, audit findings, and audit reports with guidance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of audit experience
  • Prior experience working at a Big Four / G-SIB
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver deliverables with quality
  • Ability to work independently, within the team, and across various teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative thinking and ability to work on competing priorities
  • Ability to break down problems and solve them using data analysis, process, risk control knowledge, and experience
  • Knowledge and experience applying control theory and professional auditing practices throughout the audit lifecycle
  • Understanding of regulations, regulatory risks, accounting, and financial industry best practices, including technology and data implications
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in Spain; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
  • Successful completion of a background verification check
