About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design new products, features, and experiences for target customer personas using external and internal data and insights
  • Define business requirements and lead envisioning with partner delivery teams
  • Partner with engineers and solutions architects to identify technical solutions, assess tradeoffs, and deliver product features and platform capabilities
  • Shepherd product enhancements through the new product development process
  • Advocate for customer and business outcomes
  • Define and track product metrics and KPIs
  • Collect customer feedback to continuously improve the product and refine the feature backlog
  • Collaborate with stakeholder teams to deliver go-to-market strategy
  • Coordinate execution across marketing, sales, partner enablement, and servicing
  • Monitor external trends and marketplace dynamics affecting the payments and banking industry
  • Represent network interests in leading external industry forums
  • Evolve the Payment Token Services product suite and build next-generation token products and underlying capabilities
  • Drive checkout conversion, customer spend and engagement, and improved payments experiences for issuing, merchant, and acquiring partners
  • Manage the end-to-end product lifecycle in an agile environment, including product strategy, feature enhancement, technical implementation, go-to-market execution, emerging token use cases, and industry standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years in product management or product development
  • Experience identifying customer needs, driving seamless delivery and go-to-market enablement, and managing product economics
  • Strategic and innovative mindset, with ability to synthesize and translate market and industry trends into opportunities
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • High comfort with data and analytics, using data to drive decision making and product improvement
  • Ability to identify customer personas and develop features that solve distinct customer needs
  • Ability to distill ideas, connect information across business topics, organize information, and tell a story
  • Strong external and internal partnership skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including concise verbal and written executive-level communications
  • Ability to stay connected to remote partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Passion for the payments space and ability to describe current trends and their relevance to American Express
  • High energy and optimistic attitude
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States
  • American Express will not pursue visa sponsorship
  • Preferred: 3–4 years’ experience managing payments products
