About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as an Auditor in Charge on complex audits and/or lead multiple simultaneous low-risk audits
  • Execute and manage audit engagements end-to-end, including planning, objectives, scope, and coordination with control groups and external auditors
  • Conduct L1 reviews and analyze audit results and documentation
  • Lead audit client meetings and walkthroughs
  • Develop test steps, audit findings, and audit reports according to IAG policies and procedures
  • Guide validation and execution of corrective actions and Management Action Plans
  • Track key metrics to identify control issues and trends
  • Monitor industry trends, external news, and regulatory changes and analyze business impact
  • Delegate tasks and guide team members in risk assessment, control design evaluation, and audit testing
  • Review and provide feedback on work papers
  • Mentor, coach, and support career development for direct reports and less experienced colleagues
  • Conduct post-audit feedback discussions
  • Develop subject matter expertise in a specific line of business
  • Serve as the first level of escalation
  • Attend report and issue discussions with management and coordinate next steps with leadership
  • Report on assigned tasks in client reporting meetings
  • Assist with preparing materials for regulatory exams
  • Follow up with management to ensure action plans close effectively and on time

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6+ years of audit experience
  • Prior experience working at a Big Four / G-SIB
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Project management skills and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with data analysis, process, risk control knowledge, and risk-based conclusions
  • Knowledge of control theory and professional auditing practices
  • Understanding of regulations, regulatory risks, accounting, and financial industry best practices
  • Experience with technology control testing including automated processing, interface inputs, reports, application security, business continuity and third parties
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
