About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and continuously enhance Proactive Financial Gathering trigger logic
  • Refine systematic and manual underwriting strategy
  • Partner with RPDS, GSG and SBS to build robust next generation Financial Underwriting capabilities
  • Prepare and lead Financial Underwriting case reviews with senior leadership
  • Support underwriting case reviews and resolution of executive escalations
  • Support Project Guardian milestones, including RCSA action items for the Charge Financial Underwriting process
  • Collaborate with functional and servicing partners to profitably manage and maximize customer relationships
  • Ensure operational excellence and compliance with regulatory, audit, and oversight requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
  • 4+ years experience in driving and implementing credit risk management strategies
  • Exceptional professional communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence partners
  • Advanced degree in statistics, econometrics, operations research, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field of study
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required; the company will not pursue visa sponsorship
  • Adaptable interpersonal skills, high energy, and a proven team-first mentality
  • Sound judgment, great sense of urgency, and strategic thinking
  • Intellectual curiosity and learning agility needed to explore and evaluate new ideas
