About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop a deep understanding of Sports & Entertainment partner business models, strategies, priorities, and existing Amex relationships
  • Lead strategic plans that drive growth and innovation through partnerships
  • Identify and oversee business development initiatives with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Manage an end-to-end business development pipeline
  • Build relationships across Amex to identify strategic growth areas and drive enterprise value
  • Build and elevate relationships with partner-organization stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Support partner negotiation strategies and finalize agreements
  • Lead enterprise and external agency teams in planning and executing the annual Forefront partner summit
  • Manage summit strategy, programming, talent, creative, production, executive coordination, budget, and compliance workstreams
  • Ideate and execute additional thought-leadership partner events
  • Build analyses and presentations for executive-level decision-making
  • Manage negotiation inputs and coordinate cross-functional alignment
  • Support the VP, Sports and Entertainment Partnerships and Chief Partner Officer in executive meetings and events

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strategic thought leadership with focus on identifying opportunities, navigating highly matrix organization, implementing plans and issues resolution
  • Proficient in building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners, and building followership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to synthesize complex ideas/materials for different audiences
  • Comfortable engaging with and presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong collaboration and influence management skills
  • Ability to align diverse stakeholder groups around common objectives
  • Highly motivated self-starter able to progress work autonomously and collaborate to achieve results
  • Intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity; able to bring structure to “blue sky” opportunities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Skilled in prioritization and project management
  • Financial, analytical, and AI acumen; ability to translate data into insight
  • Experience in sports and entertainment partnerships, business development and strategy preferred
  • Event strategy, project management and execution required
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States required; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
