Key responsibilities & impact

Advance the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications and systems
Modify, document, and maintain software to ensure high reliability and availability
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address advanced technical challenges and optimize application performance
Analyze system requirements and deliver innovative technical solutions to enhance software quality and efficiency
Complete code reviews and automated testing to maintain high-quality code standards
Collaborate with product and business teams to align technology initiatives with business objectives
Apply AI tools to improve software design, coding, and testing practices
Identify opportunities to embed AI into development workflows, validate AI-generated recommendations, and maintain accountability for outputs
Guide team members on effective use of AI-assisted development tools

Requirements

What you’ll need

Software engineering and development experience or a related job
Experience in application design, software development, and automated testing
Experience in object-oriented design and coding with a variety of languages
Experience in distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, and relational databases
Experience in Agile software development methodologies and practices such as Scrum/Kanban, iterations, and user stories
Experience in automation testing and documentation, including automated, functional, and performance testing
Experience integrating AI tools into end-to-end development workflows
Experience supporting adoption of AI-enabled development practices
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship will not be pursued
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and/or comparable experience
Knowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, NoSQL and relational databases
Knowledge of core tools used in planning, analyzing, crafting, building, testing, configuring, and maintaining assigned applications
Understanding of emerging AI capabilities in software engineering
