About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and manage member-facing programs, resources, and services for the Practice Innovation and Professionalism Center
  • Lead development, evaluation, administration, and continuous improvement of member-support and volunteer programs
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Pro Bono Committee
  • Recruit, onboard, support, and retain volunteers
  • Manage member intake, referrals or matching, communications, follow-up, quality assurance, and recordkeeping standards
  • Monitor member needs and program outcomes, identify service gaps, and recommend improvements
  • Develop practice management checklists, templates, articles, toolkits, guides, and practical resources
  • Serve as a first-line resource for inquiries related to practice management, technology, workflows, professionalism, and AILA resources
  • Draft, edit, maintain, publish, update, and archive website content and educational materials
  • Coordinate contributors and collaborate with staff and volunteer experts to create accessible member resources
  • Organize, bundle, maintain, and repurpose content for lawyers, paralegals, and legal teams
  • Lead workflow documentation, process mapping, standard operating procedures, and systems improvement
  • Maintain program databases, tracking systems, templates, resource inventories, and data-entry standards
  • Implement technology and process redesign to improve efficiency, member experience, program consistency, and knowledge sharing
  • Research and support new programs, services, partnerships, sponsorships, grants, and other growth opportunities
  • Provide additional member-service, research, content, program, and project support as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in an immigration law firm, immigration legal services organization, legal operations, association program, or related setting
  • Immigration paralegal experience strongly preferred
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent practical experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of immigration law practice, law firm workflows, and the roles of attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff
  • Ability to respond to member or client inquiries, identify underlying needs, and recognize matters requiring escalation
  • Strong writing, editing, research, organization, project management, and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with Microsoft 365
  • Comfort learning project-management, content management, database, analytics, and artificial intelligence tools
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, including extended periods at a computer workstation, virtual meetings, and regular communication with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move materials up to 25 pounds

  • Participation in the AILA Annual Conference each June is required
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including possible overnight or weekend stays and domestic or international travel
