About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide collaborative leadership for oncology nursing practice, education, and research across the assigned region
- Lead clinical nursing practice and establish efficient work processes and quality and safety metrics
- Provide education and document competency for nursing staff on policies, procedures, and clinical requirements
- Participate in the AON Nursing Council and partner with physician leadership and executive management on vision and strategic priorities
- Oversee development and implementation of nursing practice projects
- Supervise regional nursing staff and implement education and standard operating nursing practices
- Ensure regulatory, licensure, compliance, patient safety, and documentation requirements are met across regional practices
- Collaborate with Clinical Nurse Managers as a clinical resource and liaison to centralized corporate services
- Research RN and LPN scopes of practice by state and ensure regional compliance
- Manage nursing team initiatives and partner with the regional clinical pharmacist on clinical initiatives and process improvements
- Oversee chart audit processes and care management resources, including dieticians and clinical staff
- Manage costs and identify opportunities to eliminate non-value costs
- Represent regional nursing issues and recommendations to leadership and committees
- Host monthly nursing leadership meetings and communicate SOP, procedure, and organizational updates
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information
- Partner with senior management and Human Resources on nursing recruitment and retention strategies
- Oversee departmental scheduling, resource utilization, planning, staffing, training, performance, discipline, time-off approvals, and employee development
- Plan regular visits and assessments of assigned practices with executive management and practice leadership
- Report significant issues and clinical improvement opportunities to executive leadership and the AON Nursing Council
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
- Must be RN licensed in the state of employment and obtain and maintain multi-state licensure
- OCN Certification required
- Valid state Driver’s License required for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings
- 10 years demonstrated progressive managerial success overseeing nursing and clinical operations
- At least 5 years’ experience in community oncology nursing
- Expert with medical information systems and medical claims payment processes
- Thorough knowledge of clinical criteria and application required; working knowledge of evidence-based methods (NCCN) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience preparing reports, presentations, and procedural documents, with ability to present information effectively
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with executives, physicians, providers, team members, patients, and family members
- Ability to work independently, manage stressful situations, and exercise discretion and good judgment
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Interpersonal effectiveness, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation, and diversity awareness
- Strong customer focus and business/political acumen
- Ability to work remotely effectively
