About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills throughout the blood collection process
- Collaborate with teammates to transport and set up equipment at collection sites
- Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors
- Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and explain the impact of donations
- Follow safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations
- Ensure collected blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and transfusion safety standards
- Drive Red Cross vehicles when required
- Set up and tear down equipment at mobile blood drive sites
- Work variable schedules including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
- Overnight travel may be required in some locations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Customer service experience is required
- Effective verbal communication skills are required
- A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required
- Ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs
- Good manual dexterity
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes
- Basic computer skills are required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles
