About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills throughout the blood collection process
  • Collaborate with teammates to transport and set up equipment at collection sites
  • Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors
  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and explain the impact of donations
  • Follow safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations
  • Ensure collected blood meets goals and regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused
  • Drive Red Cross vehicles as needed
  • Set up and tear down equipment at mobile blood donation sites
  • Work as part of a team at businesses, schools, and other community locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required
  • Ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes
  • Ability to work variable schedules, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to safely operate Red Cross vehicles
  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.) preferred
  • Prior leadership experience preferred
