About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership for fixed collection sites in the Kansas-Oklahoma region
  • Ensure facilities meet regulatory requirements and production targets across whole blood, Power Red cells, platelets, and plasma
  • Oversee regional collection teams and achievement of collection goals, business initiatives, and quality metrics
  • Provide support, development, and leadership guidance to volunteers
  • Perform duties in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable regulations
  • Develop and monitor the assigned collections budget
  • Manage assigned mobile operations and oversee multiple technologies as needed
  • Coordinate with functional departments to achieve collection goals, quality, service excellence, and process-improvement metrics
  • Monitor and correct donor flow and customer-service problems with Donor Recruitment
  • Manage, coach, and mentor supervisors and staff, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and employment decisions
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and coordinate training, in-services, regulatory requirements, and new-staff protocols
  • Ensure collections meet patient needs, including right-type mix and demand requirements
  • Operate ARC vehicles as required, including loading, setup, maintenance, and teardown of supplies and equipment
  • Ensure effective internal and external communication across departments
  • Participate in divisional and national projects
  • Work out of Tulsa, Salina, or Wichita and travel regularly to additional sites, approximately 25–30%

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of management/supervisorial experience
  • A current, valid driver’s license and a good driving record is required
  • Biomedical experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, group dynamics, customer maintenance, negotiation skills, and project management preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to assimilate information quickly, analyze problems, and implement appropriate solutions
  • Ability to work independently while developing a functioning team
  • Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff, hospital personnel, physicians, volunteers, and donors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including training and presentations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience working with union staff and managing union relations
  • 5+ years of leadership experience within the blood banking/blood product industry is a competitive edge
  • Bachelor’s degree in science is a plus
  • Must reside in or near Tulsa, Wichita, or Salina to effectively support business needs
