About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Utilize healthcare and/or customer service skills throughout the blood collection process
  • Collaborate with the team to transport, set up, and tear down equipment at collection sites
  • Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors
  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and explain the impact of their donations
  • Follow safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations
  • Ensure collected blood meets goals and regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused
  • Work at mobile blood drives in businesses, schools, and other community locations
  • May drive Red Cross vehicles
  • Work variable schedules, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Overnight travel may be required in some locations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Customer service experience is required
  • Effective verbal communication skills are required
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required
  • Physical ability to lift, push, or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Ability to adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Candidates must reside in Northern New Jersey: Bergen, Union, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, or Warren County
  • Preferred: prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
  • Preferred: prior leadership experience
