About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic oversight and leadership for six fixed collection sites in the Indiana Region
- Ensure facilities meet regulatory requirements and production targets
- Promote a diverse portfolio of blood products, including whole blood, Power Red cells, platelets, and plasma
- Oversee regional collection teams and achievement of collection goals, business initiatives, and quality metrics
- Use biomedical knowledge, logistics/supply chain experience, leadership skills, and union-relations expertise to lead collections teams
- Enforce organizational policies, drive production, and lead cultural and transformational initiatives
- Provide support, development, and leadership guidance to volunteers
- Develop and monitor the assigned collections budget
- Manage assigned mobile operations and multiple technologies
- Coordinate with functional departments to achieve collection goals, quality, service, and process-improvement metrics
- Monitor, evaluate, and correct donor flow and customer-service problems with Donor Recruitment
- Manage, coach, and mentor supervisors and staff, including performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and employment decisions
- Ensure appropriate staffing, training, communications, regulatory in-services, and new-staff training
- Ensure collections meet patient needs, right-type mix, and demand requirements
- Operate ARC vehicles as required, including loading, setup, maintenance, and teardown of supplies and equipment
- Ensure effective internal and external communication across departments
- Participate in divisional and national projects
- Work from the Indianapolis or Fort Wayne site and travel regularly to additional sites, approximately 25–30%
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
- Minimum of 3 years of management/supervisorial experience
- Bachelor’s degree in science is a plus
- Biomedical experience is preferred
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, group dynamics, customer maintenance, negotiation skills, and project management preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities effectively
- Ability to assimilate information quickly, analyze problems, and implement appropriate solutions
- Ability to work independently while developing a functioning team
- Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interact effectively with staff, hospital personnel, physicians, volunteers, and donors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including training and presentations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and Excel
- Current, valid driver’s license and good driving record required
- Experience working with union staff and managing union relations
- 5+ years of leadership experience within the blood banking/blood product industry
- Must comply with standard operating procedures and applicable Federal, State, and local regulations
