About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide support to Disaster Program management and leadership within the Victoria, TX/Corpus Christi Region
  • Support Disaster Program management and volunteer workforce, focusing primarily on volunteer engagement and direct assistance to recurring local disasters such as home fires and floods
  • Support specific functions at the direction of a regional functional manager when assigned
  • Guide and support trained volunteers
  • Implement initiatives to increase Red Cross visibility through program and service delivery
  • Facilitate and support diverse volunteer teams implementing volunteer-led disaster cycle services programming
  • Assist with implementation of disaster cycle services program activities or functions within the assigned geographic area
  • Monitor, collect, and analyze business data to improve services to individuals and communities
  • Engage disaster volunteers representative of the communities they serve culturally and linguistically
  • Support development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers for disaster readiness, preparedness, response, and recovery
  • Participate in regional disaster response operations after completing training requirements
  • Work daily in the assigned geographic area to engage and mobilize communities and support volunteers
  • Deploy to disaster relief operations outside the region at least once a year

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with social services or service/program delivery, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
  • A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required
  • Ability to coordinate staff and volunteer activities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop project plans and budgets
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work outside of regular duty hours including nights and weekends
  • Employees must meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment
  • Regional disaster employees are required to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at a minimum of once a year
