About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, machines and equipment
- Work across maintenance trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine/equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication and welding
- Conduct routine, periodic and special inspections to identify necessary repair and maintenance work
- Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot and repair equipment
- Use blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings and specifications
- Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to volunteers
- Maintain and repair organizational facilities and properties
- Patch walls and ceilings; repair or replace concrete floors, steps and sidewalks
- Paint structures and equipment
- Install and correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry and structural problems
- Document installations and repairs for regulatory agencies
- Install, operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment
- Move and store furniture and equipment
- Estimate project time and material costs; requisition supplies and equipment
- Maintain landscaping, including planting, pruning, watering and applying fertilizer/insecticides
- Sweep external walkways and staircases and remove snow where applicable
- Drive vehicles to other locations
- Perform all work according to established safety procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School or equivalent required
- Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
- Related experience in painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work
- May require a trade license
- Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required
- Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable
- May be required to have basic computer skills
- Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to work on a team
- May have on-call duties
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and work with chemicals and solvents
- Able to move/lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability to report to the chapter office 3 days a week and work from home 2 days a week
- Willingness to perform regional travel (10%)
- Physical ability to regularly lift/move 10–50 lbs, and over 100 lbs with assistance or powered industrial truck
- Ability to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally sit and climb or balance
