About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Guide, lead, and support employees and trained volunteers delivering disaster comfort and care
  • Build, sustain, and energize employee and volunteer engagement
  • Collaborate with volunteer services staff to maintain a robust workforce
  • Ensure communities are prepared to respond to disasters
  • Deploy to disaster relief operations outside the region at least once a year
  • Lead volunteer teams implementing disaster cycle services programming
  • Oversee disaster cycle services or regional functional activities, including mass care, response, preparedness, recovery, and planning/readiness
  • Develop and support Disaster Leadership Volunteers and volunteer partners
  • Prepare and mobilize communities and engage partners for disaster response and recovery
  • Collaborate with internal employees and volunteers in a matrix management environment
  • Serve as a regional Red Cross disaster subject matter expert
  • Initiate, scale, coordinate, and manage regional disaster relief operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience
  • 3 years of supervisory or management experience
  • Current valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Analytical and decision-making skills for interpreting program trends, formulating recommendations, and developing improvement processes
  • Experience collaborating with diverse groups, managing multiple priorities, facilitation, problem solving, marketing, leadership, and partnership management
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to work nights and weekends outside regular duty hours
  • Must work daily in the assigned geographic area or region
  • Must meet all training and physical capacity requirements for deployment
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods and meet stated physical requirements
