About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop an annual territory plan aligned with regional and company growth and profitability goals
  • Conduct weekly agency visits and occasional overnight travel to trade shows, conventions, and internal meetings
  • Complete annual agency business plans with action items to achieve company objectives
  • Oversee partnerships within the designated agency plant regarding company products and drive submission activity and profitable premium growth
  • Develop key partnerships with independent agencies to strengthen carrier-agency relationships
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver an exemplary customer experience
  • Manage assigned agencies and prospect potential new agency partners
  • Keep the team informed of industry trends through independent-agent contacts and insurance industry meetings and conventions
  • Complete weekly call reports, expense reports, and other administrative duties promptly
  • Assist with special assignments and projects requested by AMERISAFE leadership
  • Coach and mentor less experienced sales team members
  • Foster AMERISAFE’s culture through consistency, focus, frugality, ownership, and service
  • Work under the Regional Vice President of Sales and partner with underwriting, safety, marketing, and other AMERISAFE departments to achieve sales and production goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5 years of insurance sales experience
  • In-depth knowledge of the commercial insurance industry
  • Strong knowledge of agency/wholesaler mechanics
  • Ability to manage a remote territory with limited direction
  • Problem-solving ability and ownership of issues or requests
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and mindset
  • Ability to demonstrate integrity, team spirit, enthusiasm, trust, and credibility
  • Business acumen to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and represent the Company professionally
  • Ability to quickly absorb information and apply it to current business situations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant industry experience
  • Ability to travel weekly to agencies, with occasional overnight travel to trade shows, conventions, and internal meetings
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including a criminal background check and 10-panel drug test; motor vehicle report review if applicable
