About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop features and functionality for Chamber software across the full stack
- Contribute to architectural decisions for the microservices-based platform
- Maintain and occasionally develop features for early-generation Chamber software
- Participate in quality assurance processes to ensure software reliability and performance
- Provide technical support for customer issues when needed
- Collaborate with software, hardware, operations, and customer experience teammates to deliver robust end-to-end solutions
- Work across frontend user interfaces, backend services, embedded systems, web applications, system-level programming, IoT communication, and containerized deployments
- Fly to Asheville once per quarter (four times per year) to work with the team on-site for 3–4 days
- Occasionally meet with the VP of Product in Austin and work directly with a chamber
Requirements
What you’ll need- Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is unavailable
- Experience with at least one modern high-level programming language (JavaScript, Python, or similar)
- Experience with at least one lower-level language (Go, C, C++, or similar)
- Familiarity with Linux environments and command line usage
- Experience with version control (Git)
- Familiarity with a project management and tracking tool (e.g., Asana, Linear, Jira, etc.)
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and testing practices
- Preferred: Experience with Next.js, React and Typescript for frontend development
- Preferred: Experience with Go for backend development
- Preferred: Familiarity with microservice architecture and design patterns
- Preferred: Experience with Docker and containerized deployments
- Preferred: Familiarity with Debian-based Linux systems
- Preferred: Experience with MQTT or other IoT communication protocols
- Preferred: Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions workflows)
- Preferred: Familiarity with Shell scripting (Bash)
- Preferred: Familiarity with IoT, hardware, or hardware/software integration
- Preferred: Familiarity with AI-collaboration tools and agents
- Nice to have: Previous experience in a full-stack development role
- Nice to have: Previous experience working with embedded systems or IoT devices
- Nice to have: Previous experience with real-time communication systems
- Nice to have: Previous contributions to open-source projects or personal projects demonstrating breadth across the stack
